System of a down !!!!!
System of a Down

C'est en 1995 que Soil (qui n'avait produit aucun album et très peu de concerts), le groupe fondé par Daron Malakian, devient System of a Down. Le nom est tiré d'un poème de Daron : Victims of a down. Dès son premier album éponyme, en 1998, le groupe connut un certain succès dans le milieu du metal, en proposant un rock brutal, lourd, inventif et influencé par la musique orientale. Mais la principale marque de fabrique du groupe est sans doute la voix de Serj Tankian, tour à tour caverneuse, douce ou délirante. Avec celle de Daron (le guitariste, qui chantera de plus en plus au fur et à mesure des albums), System of a Down est doté d'une des paires de voix les plus inattendues et les plus originales du monde du rock. Leurs paroles engagées ont fait rapidement d'eux les porte-drapeaux de grandes causes, notamment la reconnaissance du génocide arménien. Des chansons comme Sugar et Spiders sortent en single.
